Where: Virtual
Members: $10
Nonmembers: $20

About the course:

Most birders know that you don’t always need binoculars (or even sight!) to explore the fascinating world of birds. In fact, it’s often faster and easier to identify a bird by its song or call. Do you want to learn how to bird by ear or improve your song identification? Join the Northern Virginia Bird Alliance for a virtual course on Birding by Ear with Colt Gregory. During this program, your instructor will:

  1. Explain the many benefits of birding by ear

  2. Introduce some of the most common birds through their songs and calls

  3. Share helpful resources and apps to help you practice and improve your birding-by-ear skills.

This program is designed for beginner birders but can also serve as a helpful refresher for more experienced birders. NVBA’s virtual programs help raise funds to support our mission. If cost is a barrier to your participation, please contact NVBA’s Community Engagement Coordinator, McKenzie, at mckenzie@nvbirdalliance.org to inquire about possible accommodations.
