Thank you
Cedar Waxwing with Serviceberry, Jordan Parham/Audubon Photography Awards
This year, Northern Virginia Bird Alliance is grateful to each and every one of you who have supported us.
From joining us on volunteer opportunities and birdwalks, to engaging with us virtually at over 50 events, we wouldn't be here without you!
This year has been a year of growth and change for NVBA. We said hello to a brand new Executive Director, celebrated our first year under our new name, and welcomed new voices to our board—all while engaging deeply in our mission to enjoy, conserve and restore nature for the benefit of people and wildlife throughout Northern Virginia.
Earlier this month, our first book club discussed Robin Wall Kimmerer's The Serviceberry, which explores the gift economy of nature; how serviceberry trees offer their fruit freely, nourishing birds and other creatures without expectation of return. It's a beautiful reminder that the best relationships, like those in nature, are built on generosity and reciprocity. That's the spirit of community we see in each of you who volunteer, participate, and support our work.
Over the coming weeks we'll be sharing updates on some of the key programs and projects we've been working on, from our Wildlife Sanctuary Program and Stretch Our Parks initiative to helping our programs reach more diverse audiences and growing our NextGen group.
For now, thank you for being part of the Northern Virginia Bird Alliance. Your support makes all of this possible, and we're excited to share more about the impact we're making together.
