Join NVBA for our first-ever Bird Guide Workshop and Training Event! This two-part series is designed to connect volunteer bird guides, align on shared goals, and build the skills needed to lead engaging and educational bird outings.

Schedule of Events

Part 1 - Virtual Training: November 13 at 7:00 PM (via Zoom)
NVBA staff will cover guide expectations, share tips for leading successful walks, and introduce resources available to support you.

Part 2 - In-Person Birding Session: November 16 at 10:00 AM (Riverbend Park)
We’ll meet in-person to practice guiding techniques, exchange insights, and NVBA will provide materials for you to use at future events. This is also an opportunity for guides to connect in-person with eachother!

Attendance at both training sessions is required to become a certified NVBA Bird Guide. Upon completion, guides agree to support at least one NVBA bird outing per quarter.

NVBA Bird Guide Requirements

NVBA is expanding the variety of birding experiences we offer. Looking forward, we hope to provide everything from traditional walks to bird sits, field trips, and more!

To become an NVBA Bird Guide, you simply need to:

  1. Be interested in birding, and

  2. Enjoy leading inclusive, enjoyable experiences that inspire others to learn about and appreciate birds.

NVBA serves a wonderfully diverse birding community, and we hope our team of guides will reflect that same diversity of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Thank you for helping us grow our birding community and inspire others to connect with nature!

Attendance at both training sessions is required to become a certified NVBA Bird Guide. Upon completion, guides agree to support at least one NVBA bird outing per quarter.

If you’re unable to attend this year but would like to be notified about the next training opportunity, please email McKenzie, NVBA’s Community Engagement Coordinator, at mckenzie@nvbirdalliance.org. Any questions may also be reffered to her.
