On Saturday, October 4, 22 birders awoke before sunrise, loaded into vans, and began our journey from Northern Virginia to Cape May, NJ, our eyes set on this faraway destination perfectly aligned with the Atlantic Flyway, one of the four “avian superhighways” in North America.
If your yard sits in the blazing sun in the summer, it may have already occurred to you that a native shade tree would benefit you tremendously. But even if your yard is already graced by one or more mature trees, you should give some serious thought as to whether it is time to start the next generation.
Thanks to the generosity of our members and friends, our Annual Appeal raised a record-setting $57,000. That’s $8000 higher than our fundraising goal. It’s also a testament to our donors’ support of our mission to engage all Northern Virginia communities in enjoying, conserving, and restoring nature.
